Child Support
Child support is the right of the child. In Ontario, amounts are guided by the Child Support Guidelines, which use the payor’s gross annual income and the number of children to set a “table” amount. In addition, “section 7” special or extraordinary expenses – such as child care, uninsured health/dental costs, post-secondary expenses, and certain extracurriculars – may be shared proportionate to each parent’s income.
-
Calculate table support and assess section 7 expenses based on proper disclosure (tax returns, NOAs, pay stubs, business statements).
Advise on shared or split parenting time implications and when income can be imputed (e.g., under-employment or cash income).
Seek retroactive or variation orders where there’s a material change (income shifts, new expenses, parenting schedule changes).
Register, enforce, or vary orders/agreements through Ontario’s Family Responsibility Office (FRO).
Why Choose Haider Khan Legal?
We start with a focused intake and document checklist, run guideline calculations, and propose a practical path—negotiation/mediation first, court if necessary. Child support is not taxable to the recipient and not deductible by the payor.
