What We Serve

Slip and Fall

Slip and fall accidents are incidents where an individual slips, trips, or stumbles due to a hazardous condition on a property. These hazardous conditions can include slippery floors, uneven surfaces, obstructions, or a lack of railings. In Ontario, property owners have a legal responsibility to ensure their premises are safe and free from hazards that could lead to slip and fall accidents.

Did you know that property owners and occupiers in Ontario have a legal duty to ensure their premises are safe for everyone? This obligation becomes particularly critical during the winter months when snow and ice can create hazardous conditions that lead to slips and falls.

In Ontario, the Occupiers' Liability Act and Municipal Act mandates that those in control of properties, whether they are homeowners, businesses, or municipal entities, must take reasonable care to ensure people on their premises are safe. This responsibility extends to ensuring that walkways, driveways, parking lots, and other accessible areas are properly maintained and cleared of snow and ice.

Unfortunately, despite these legal obligations, accidents still occur. The icy conditions of Ontario winters can lead to serious injuries that can have lasting impacts on people's lives. For those who have suffered an injury due to the negligence of a property owner or occupier, it's important to understand that you have rights. First, you must deliver a written ‘notice of claim’ that includes the date, approximate time, and location of fall to the owner of the property within 60 days, and within 10 days if it involves city property. Our team can help in effectively representing individuals who have been injured in such circumstances. Our goal is to ensure that you receive maximum compensation for your injuries, including coverage for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and other damages. If you or someone you know has been injured in a slip and fall accident this winter, don't hesitate to reach out for the support and guidance you deserve.
